Dai and Heather Howells welcome you to their cottage apartment, "Wagtails", shown in the picture above. Located in the very North West of Gower Peninsula, and situated right on the vilage green, in the idyllic Village of Llanmadoc.

Wagtails cottage apartment is a 1 double-bedroom ground floor s/c apartment , with own parking to the front door. It's double bed is ensuite, and the bathroom is spotlessly clean and modern. We insist on quality beds/bedding, and this bed was bought in Aug 07 (and has a quality pocket sprung mattress).

We have just fitted a new Victorian style traditional 'Savoy' three piece porcelain bathroom suite fitted in Jan 08 including white enamel shower-bath (with safety handles and anti-slip floor), pedestal sink, and stylish conventional WC. (NB: Bathroom photos on web gallery are now out of date and will shortly be replaced).

Layout is as follows: enter front door, into kitchen area, open plan into lounge with dining table, then through door into double bedroom, which then leads through another door into the bathroom. All situated on ground floor.

Conscious of those with dust allergies, we have minimised the soft-furnishings (laminate flooring  throughout and leather sofas). Our usual guests are couples alone or with up to two children who want quality and comfort as well as a great location, but either can't find or don't need a larger cottage. There is a quality leather metal action sofabed in the lounge (new Feb 08) suitable for one adult or two children. Therefore the cottage apartment can sleep a family of up to four and regularly does so (thoroughly enjoyed). The lounge also has a widescreen Panasonic TV and DVD player- and we provide a load of recent DVDs. Modest in size yet we have tried to provide all those home comforts to help you enjoy your stay e.g. quality pillows and duvet, books, decent wall-hangings, DAB digital alarm/radios in lounge and bedroom, Denby crockery, decent cutlery, sky movies and sports, landline phone

BT wireless (WIFI) broadband available free of charge.

The main strengths of Wagtails are: fab location, friendly hosts, simple unfussy booking process, sensible prices, good key facilities and very well 'kitted out', with attention to detail. The friendly owners (that's us - Heather and Dai) live next door, are always keen to welcome and provide help and advice about what to do, where to eat etc. yet leave you get on with it and have the privacy and peace you came to enjoy.

Wagtails has its own parking and front door entrance, a small and private immediate rear patio/BBQ area plus a large trellis fenced and lawned private garden "The Rose Garden"" situated at the top of Gower Cottage's garden (easily accesses by Wagtails guests via a gate) which is a private lawned trellis fenced garden exclusively for Wagtails guests complete with quality pub-bench style seating and well-shrubbed with a selection of garden roses and other shrubs, herbs and flowers, frequented by, amongst others,, a flock of long-tailed tits and woodpeckers (May 08). Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot in one hand, some glasses in the other -  go on up and sit and watch the evening go by, or take a good book in the afternoon.

Wagtails is literally a one minute walk to the local community shop (great local produce) and 10 mins walk down to the local beaches at Whiteford/Llanmadoc/Broughton beaches, or just sit out the rear garden and relax. One of Gower's truly stunning circular maritime coastal walks awaits you at Cwm Ivy Woods (NT) just down Cwm Ivy lane. You can also walk over Llanmadoc Hill to Llangennith and catch the hourly bus back to the front door. Ring or email us for more details or see the key points listed at foot of this page..

Unfortunately we do not offer a Wagtails guest laundry facility so make sure you bring sufficient clothes for your full stay.

WAGTAILS APARTMENT IN BRIEF

Ground floor apartment with driveway to own front door with convenient off road parking

Laminate wood-effect floor, minimal soft furnishings, quality bed and mattress - 'pocket sprung' comfy double bed and mattress bought Aug 2007.

Strictly no smoking

Small well behaved dogs allowed, (strictly not in bedroom). Local beach is dog friendly 12 mths. The Kings Head in Llangennith, or The Greyhound Inn are both local dog friendly pubs with food  - both being 5 mins drive.

One double bedroom through to modern bathroom with proper mains WC [WE PROMISE NO AWFUL SANIFLOW!!]

Electric shower over new white enamel bath (new Jan 08) with handles (constant combi-fed hot water for a bath anytime) 

Small but well equipped studio kitchen into open plan lounge - kitchen contains full size dishwasher, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, 4 plate hob, oven-grill, sink.

Quality Brown Leather metal action sofabed (sleeps two children or two normal sized adults) should you wish to bring your one or two children with you. We do not feel the apartment is very appropriate for more than two adults due to only having a single bathroom which guests can access only via the bedroom. That said we have had a family of five (two adults three young children) stay and they really enjoyed.

Laundry service available next door at Gower Cottage.

You are welcome to sit up in our own (Gower Cottage's) rear lawned garden, a specific quality wooden table and chairs with parasol is provided specifically for Wagtails guests. This is well screened away from Gower Cottage to allow you some privacy. Alternatively sit immediately behind Wagtails in a small private area where you will find a small patio area with new teak wood table and chairs with parasol.and Gas BBQ.

Quality Panasonic widescreen 36" TV with DVD player and SKY TV with SKY Sports and Movies (for the film or tennis, football, rugby, golf lovers) - we supply list of modern and old DVDs and some great books on Gower

Centrally heated via Worcester Bosch combi CH system but also has flexible oil filled electric plug in "De-Longhi" oil-radiator in case more heating is required.

Located on Llanmadoc village green and could not be a more idyllic location, close to walks, shop, pub/restaurant, beaches and on hourly bus route.  

We take two night bookings or more

Mobility aids include extra shower wall handles, WC support stand, and shower seat for bath if required (just ask)
